FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is micropolishing?

Electropolishing is a physical vibratory process that uses a variety of specialty tumbling materials to remove the microscopic outer layer of a metal part; think of it like a “reverse plating” as no material is added to the item, but rather removed from it by as little as .0002”. By stripping away a uniform layer of surface material, the electropolishing process removes ingrained impurities, heat tint/oxide scale, burrs, micro cracks, pits, and other surface defects that can jeopardize the durability and efficiency of a part. See our gallery for before-and-after photos.

What are the benefits of micropolishing?

Micropolishing is a wise investment to protect the longevity and increase the performance of your valued pieces; this process can result in improved horsepower, increased corrosion resistance, reduced drag and friction, and add an elevated aesthetic appeal. Our specially developed substrate surface enhancement is perfect for a variety of metal motorsport components and other steel applications; by eliminating microscopic imperfections, your items will run smoother and look better!

What can/cannot be polished?

Most metal (and metal alloy items) can be successfully micropolished; and steel is an excellent choice for this service. It should be noted that aluminum and titanium require a bit more care and treatment, but this does not mean they can’t qualify. We love discussing and testing what the process is capable of, so if you are not sure if your item can (or should) be micropolished please reach out for a consultation! At this time we are not accepting any items that are made of glass, plastic, wood, or other materials; but this may change with time and evolving technologies. Innovation comes from experimentation!

How long does micropolishing take/what is a typical lead-time for completing this process?

Project completion lead-times will vary based on quantity, size, complexity, current production schedule, and other factors. However, a good rule of thumb is that you can generally expect your items to be completed within 4-7 days of our receipt of it. In the case of an extended waiting period, you will be notified beforehand if there are any anticipated delays.

Do you offer delivery or shipping?

Yes to both! We are happy to make available a variety of transport options. If you are local to the Tucson area, pick-up/drop-off and delivery services are provided for free! We can also deliver outside of the Tucson Metro area for an additional fee, please contact us to discuss as this will vary based on distance and weight.
We can also arrange for your items to be shipped to us (and shipped back you). Shipping fees will be covered by the customer both ways.

How much does it cost to micropolish my items?

Prices for custom work will vary based on size, complexity, time, and other factors; however, we do have standard pricing for some of the most common car racing components. Please note that most projects will usually start at around $100 and go up from there. Please contact us with your project details for a free estimate.

What payment types do you accept?

We happily accept Venmo, PayPal, or cash for service payment. At this time we do not accept checks, money orders, cryptocurrency, or other methods. This is subject to change over time.

What is the billing structure?

In order to secure your position in our production queue, a 50% (non-refundable) deposit is required. Once the work is completed and the item is ready for delivery/shipping then the rest of the quote balance will be due in full before items will be released.
